Senator Mark Walczyk is a dedicated American politician and a proud member of the United States Army Reserve who has been representing the 49th district in the New York State Senate since 2023. A graduate of the University of Albany, Mark began his public service journey in 2011 as a staff member for State Senator Patty Ritchie, where he discovered his passion for serving constituents and addressing their needs. In 2015, he was elected to the Watertown City Council, where he tackled pressing issues such as combating the drug epidemic, improving infrastructure, and revitalizing the Thompson Park pool. He took office on January 1, 2016, and served three impactful years before being elected to the New York State Assembly in 2018, where he successfully served two terms representing the 116th Assembly District.
During his time in the Assembly, Mark quickly garnered a reputation as a champion for his district, fondly referring to it as “The Front Yard of America.” Following the retirement of incumbent Senator Patty Ritchie, he launched his campaign for the New York State Senate in 2022, securing the Republican nomination and winning the general election unopposed, officially taking office in 2023. In addition to his political accomplishments, Mark serves with distinction as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve, assigned to the 484th Forward Engineer Support Team. In December 2023, he announced his deployment to the Middle East, spending 10 months primarily stationed in Kuwait, where he oversaw critical infrastructure projects that enhanced regional stability.
Upon safely returning to the United States in December 2024, just in time for the holiday season, Mark expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support he received from his constituents and colleagues in the Senate. He reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to the core values of “God, family, country.” A true voice of reason in Albany, Senator Walczyk is known for standing firm in defense of families, calling out corruption, advocating for economic growth, and championing the Constitution.
Mark is married to his beloved wife, Jessica, and together, they are raising three wonderful children, Atticus and Byron, and the newest member, Wiletta Jane, who joined the gang in September of 2025, along with their mostly well-behaved hound, Alfred.
