SYRACUSE – This summer, Longhouse Council executive board members, volunteer Scouters, youth leaders, and professional staff showed up in full force across the city to connect with families, share the spirit of Scouting, and spotlight the opportunities Scouting America offers young people right here in Syracuse.
In 2024, we proudly launched two new Cub Scout Packs serving city neighborhoods as part of our Scouting in Syracuse initiative – Pack 1 serving the Wescott/University neighborhood, and Pack 44 serving the Northside. And we’re just getting started. This fall, the Scouting in Syracuse team hopes to launch at least one new pack and a Scouts, BSA troop serving Syracuse’s Southside, and another Pack serving the Northside in partnership with the YWCA. These efforts reflect our commitment to growing Scouting in every corner of Syracuse and making it accessible to more families than ever. Our presence at these events this summer has helped us share this effort with the community.
We’re deeply grateful to our community partners for welcoming us and to the dedicated Scouting volunteers who made our participation in these events possible. Some of the highlights from this summer include:
- Syracuse Mets WeCare Wednesday
- Barry Park Association’s Ed Smith End of Year Party
- CAMP415’s First Responder’s Barbecue
- Officer Hank’s Basketball Tournament at Wilson Park
- Syracuse Puerto Rican Festival
- Interfaith Works’ Building Bridges
- Jazz in the City
- Syracuse Police Department’s National Night Out
- Syracuse Latino-American Festival
- YWCA Block Party for Eliminating Racism
