Volunteer with Scouting in Syracuse
Scouting in Syracuse is Longhouse Council’s initiative to extend Scouting in the City of Syracuse by organizing new units to serve their neighborhoods. Current and former Scouters, parents, and Scouting alumni can give back to Scouting by donating their skills to help our most needy Scouts. Donate a few hours, a day, or a weekend to help directly with Scouts enrolled in Twin RIvers ScoutReach Programs. Volunteers are needed to help with Cub Scout and Webelos Scout meetings, weekend events, weekend camping and summer camp.
Volunteer with a Local Unit
Be part of the action! Support a Cub Scout Pack or Scouts BSA Troop in your area. Help plan meetings, organize events, or mentor youth directly. Your experience can inspire the next generation. This is especially needed with our new units serving the City of Syracuse.
Become a Merit Badge Counselor
Do you have a skill, hobby, or profession you love? Share it! From Robotics to First Aid, Cooking to Cybersecurity, there are 140 different skill and career-based merit badge programs. Merit badge counselors play a key role in helping Scouts explore their interests and earn advancement.
Become a Unit Commissioner
Want to make a bigger impact behind the scenes? Unit Commissioners are mentors and guides to local Scout leaders, helping ensure every unit has the tools to thrive. A great role for experienced Scouters or those with strong leadership skills.
Host a Scouting Event
Have access to a great meeting space, outdoor area, or professional facility? Host a merit badge event, skill workshop, campfire night, or career-focused visit. Your venue could open new horizons for local Scouts!
