On Line Training Opportunities
Introduction
Welcome to
the adventure of Scouting and congratulations on having been
selected to serve as a leader and role model for our youth. Scouting
is an excellent program to watch youth grow into responsible adults.
You will meet a lot of other adult volunteers that are just as
concerned as you are about the future of our youth.
New in the
fall of 2003 is the opportunity for new leaders to take orientation
training. Click on the training course you wish to take and follow
the instructions. Be sure to complete and submit the attendance
information at the completion of the session. Training opportunities
on line include:
New
Leader Essentials - is designed for all new
volunteers and provides the basics of the Scouting programs, the age
appropriateness of those programs, and our values and methods. Once
taken, this course does not have to be repeated. This course is
offered at the Council and District level and can also be scheduled
for an individual unit by contacting your District Training
Chairman. This training is also available on line.
Click here to access the training session. This is a PowerPoint
file, with a narrated script. The file is just over 8Megabytes in size and will take time to download on a dialup connection. You will need to have Microsoft
PowerPoint or the Microsoft PowerPoint viewer installed on your computer to run this
program. If you do not own Microsoft PowerPoint, you can download the PowerPoint Viewer software for free from www.microsoft.com. Search for PowerPoint Viewer on their website and download the product that's appropriate for your system.
Fast

- is designed to immediately orient new leaders to the Scouting role
before their first meeting with youth. Fast Start Video Tapes and
Viewer Guides for new Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venture Leaders are
available at the J. Stanley Coyne Scout Service. This training is
