Providing Scouting in Onondaga, Oswego, Lewis, Jefferson
and St. Lawrence Counties in central and northern New York

Welcome

This site was designed to help orient new adult leaders into their position as well as explain the continuum of training provided by the Hiawatha Seaway Council for volunteer leaders. Generally speaking, training describes the basic workings of the Scouting Program. This orientation is to help eliminate the doubts that new volunteer leader have about their responsibilities.

Why We Train Leaders!

Trained leaders provide a Scouting Program that helps to retains youth in the program and further the mission of citizenship training, character development and personal and mental fitness. Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews lacking trained leaders are less effective at youth retention. Trained leaders provide a quality program that is exciting and fun for the youth, the leaders and the families!
