Sabattis Scout Reservation

If you're anywhere else you're in the wrong place!

At Sabattis Scout Reservation, Scouts have the run of over 40,000 acres of "Forever Wild" land and access to 1,000,000 more. Located on scenic Low's Lake, well off Route 30 between Long and Tupper Lakes, Sabattis is right in the heart of one of the premier high-adventure areas in the Northeast. Just imagine walking a short distance from your camp and finding yourself in a wilderness that's still much the same as it was 100 years ago.

What to Bring?

Your week will begin with a campwide picnic and inspirational campfire, and end with a Friday night barbecue and another campfire you'll long remember. In between, you'll find a full schedule of challenging and exciting activities, a new Mountain Biking Program and a whole lot of fun.

The opportunities at Sabattis Scout Reservation, are almost unlimited: A beautiful swimming area on Three Pound Pond offers troop swims, plus instruction in swimming, lifesaving, canoeing, rowing and, new this year, windsurfing. There's even a snorkeling program with around the lake snorkel hikes. A nationally designed rifle range and full archery program teach valuable lessons in marksman ship and safety. The nature area includes a bog and other ecosystems for in-depth study. The Challenge Valley obstacle course lets the scout test himself against the obstacles and is near hot showers. A handicraft area provides instruction in leatherworking, basketry and woodcarving. Sabattis also features a Family Camp for families to enjoy.

Troops have the flexibility to plan and implement their own programs. To make it easier to coordinate individual and troop activities, the merit badge program is also very flexible. This is your chance to get hands on experience for the Orienteering, Pioneering, Wilderness Survival, Camping, Cooking, Backpacking, Hiking, and other Scoutcraft merit badges; experiment with handicrafts such as basketry, leatherwork, and wood carving; get expert instruction in a gorgeous setting for the Canoeing, Lifesaving, Rowing, Small Boat Sailing, and Swimming merit badges; and hone your skills for the Archery, Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting, and other sports merit badges.

Cooking is done at Sabattis by individual patrols using food supplied by the camp. This system lets Scouts enjoy meals with that wonderful outdoor flavor, while developing cooking and teamwork skills.

Need even more adventure? A fully outfitted trip center has all the trail tents and stoves you'll need for an overnight trip to a wilderness retreat. Seventeen foot canoes are available for these overnighters or for exploring our islands. We can also outfit troops for 50, 75, 0r 100 mile plus treks to the High Peaks, the Saranacs, Cranberry Lake and many others.

For high adventure in an awe inspiring setting, lace up your boots and head for the adventure of a lifetime at Sabattis Scout Reservation!
