A weekend of excitement

Our next level of Cub Scout Summer Camp is the Cub Adventure Weekend. This camp is designed for boys who have completed at least one year of the Cub Scout program. As the name infers, this camp is a weekend overnight camp beginning Friday evening and ending Sunday late morning/early afternoon.

The goal of the Cub Adventure Weekend is to provide a more exciting program to Cub Scouts who have already experienced Cub Scout Day Camp or would like to supplement Cub Scout Day Camp with a more involved camp.

The Hiawatha Seaway Council will operate a Cub Adventure Weekend this summer at Camp Woodland in Constantia in an effort to make the weekend camping experience available to as many Cub families as possible. The camp will offer an exciting program of archery, crafts, nature, field sports, swimming and other program areas in addition to camp-wide activities and the dining hall experience that you just dont get at Cub Scout Day Camp (not to mention sleeping in a tent in the woods). The accommodations for Cub Adventure Weekend will be canvas wall tents with wooden platforms, cots and mattresses. For our parents and adults, we have a wonderful shower house with private bathing stalls and hot water. Like all of our Cub Scout summer camps, the Cub Adventure Weekend is a family oriented camp, but unlike Day Camp, it is mandatory that all Cubs be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult partner for the entire duration of Camp. This rule is to comply with BSA regulations on Cub Scout overnight camping. The time spent with your son at Cub Adventure Weekend is sure to provide you both with memories you can share that will last a lifetime. It will also allow our trained Program Directors and Area Directors to develop more involved projects and games as you and your son will be working together as a team.

With an increased number of families participating in our Cub Adventure Weekend programs, we are limited to the number of registrants we can accept based on the number of tents, cots and capacity of the dining hall, therefore, registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

To reserve your space at one of the Cub Adventure Weekends, send your completed registration and health form to the Hiawatha Seaway Council as soon as possible. If you would like more information on the Cub Adventure Weekend, please contact the Camnping Department at 463-0201.
